About Me:
My name is Kimberly Boyer. I am excited to be returning to Welcome as a Reading Specialist for the 2023-2024 school year. This will be my 6th year at WES in this position.
This year I will be working with students to build reading, spelling and comprehension skills. I love to read and I hope to impart that love of reading and learning to my students.
I received my B.A. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and my Masters in Teaching from Hollins University in Roanoke, Virginia.
In addition to my Teaching Licensure, I have completed a Reading Certification for grades K-12 and I have received training in the Orton-Gillingham method as well as the Hill Reading Program (now called 95RAP). This ipad based program is what I use in my small reading groups. I have also finished the training for LETRS (Language Essentials for Teachers of Reading and Spelling), which is a research based science of reading approach. I love to learn and I am constantly looking for ways to improve my teaching style to better help struggling readers.
